Bermuda Fighters Advance to Championship Finals

The World Kickboxing and Karate Association [WKA] World Championships in Prestatyn, Wales, got underway with Krista Dyer, Che Durham, and Kallan Todd representing the Bermuda Sanshou Association.

Dyer defeated New Zealand’s Alex Mclean in the Female 63.5kg (139.7lbs) K1 Division. The fight went the distance with Dyer dominating all 3 of the 2-minute rounds to advance to the final against USA’s Ellen Martin. Dyer is also due to face Martin in the Unified Kickboxing “Glory Rules” Final.

16-year-old Todd defeated France’s Darmerval in the Male 16 – 17-year-old +95.1kg (209lbs) K1 Division. This match also went all 3 rounds with a very close first round and Todd going on to dominate the 2nd and 3rd rounds to secure the points victory. Todd moves on to the final to face New Zealand’s Te Au Pounamu Warren.

Durham was initially due to see action however, his opening matches were moved to Wednesday where he will face Germany’s Andre Luckert in Glory Rules and then Ireland’s Celtan Delaney in the K1 Division both at 70kg (154lbs).
