Watson Meets Goals in Toronto Marathon

IslandStats.com
Domico Watson ran the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon with 2 goals in mind.

Watson’s first was to run a sub-3-hour Marathon, and also run a Boston Marathon Qualification time before he turned 30, Watson in his third full marathon (first in 3 years), and both goals were accomplished, Watson ran 2:49:40 and finished 98th overall out of the 3,501 competitors, Watson finished 15th in Men’s 25 – 29 Age Group Division.

Watson posted on social media, “The atmosphere of the race and spectator encouragement was awesome. Some quiet areas along the lakeshore only listening to footsteps, breathing and a little race chatting. But found the runners offered each other encouragement at those times.
Every marathon has its trials. Dealing with Plantar Fasciitis for weeks the pain set in at the 35k mark but I tried to stay relaxed and enjoy the final few miles (as best I could) Training in 80-70 degree weather and racing in 40-degree weather with wind chills was rough on the system. Lots of cramps and tightness starting as early as the first 10k.

But those trials make the end result even more worth it. Want to thank all the peeps that tracked the race and cheered on virtually - amazing all the well wishes. All the running squad over the past couple of years who I have trained with and inspired me to test myself at this distance again. My Dad for assisting with the long runs during training and Mom for coming on the trip and acting as the support team for the race.”
