The Bermuda Powerboat Association released the names of the entrants for the Around the Island Powerboat Race, which gets underway on Sunday August 11th at 2pm in Ferry Reach.
In 2012 brothers Tonka and Stacey Simpson powered FB55 across the line first in the 2012 Round-The-Island Powerboat Race, this year Simpson will have Cameron Harris as his co-pilot.
Second across the line last year was Mackie Wilson and Graham Sutherland in D5, the pair clocked a time of 43:27, while Bobby DeCosta and Chris Wells was the third boat across the line clocking a time of 43:40, however they were not without incident, they were attempting to re-enter Ferry Reach through the pylons, however they hit a wave and loss control coming into contact with a pylon severely damaging the right side of the boat.
Anthony and Andy Stoneham set a New Course Record with a time of 33:35, they powered their boat S22 to the New Record. The Stonehams battled Steven Bridges and Aaron Sims in the S Class all the way around the island with Bridges and Sims the fifth boat across the line finishing ten second behind in 33:45.
