The 2018 Finn Australian Championships got underway albeit a day later than scheduled.
Rockal Evans and 25 other sailors took to the waters off the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in conditions of 8-12 knots, with pretty choppy water.
Two races were sailed on the day, with Evans finishing the day in 8th place with 16 points.
In the first race of the Regatta, Evans would cross the line in 6th, he would follow that up with a 10th place second race finish.
Jake Lilley is the current leader after winning both races on the day, with Oliver Tweddell in second with 4 points and Luke Elliott is in third with 10 points.
Speaking with www.islandstats.com following the day’s racing Evans said, “It was a hard day with tricky conditions but finishing 6th and 10th in the 2 races and sitting 8th overall is a good start.”
