It was a dazzling debut for the Nacra 15 Open Class at the 46th AON Youth Sailing World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, as sailors got their feet, and everything else, wet on day one of racing.
There was plenty of thrills and spills, the youth multihull sailors had to get to grips with the new class.
After three races on Day One with winds in the high teens, sometimes touching 20 knots, coming in from the south, Bermuda’s Ceci Wollmann with her brother Mikey Wollmann as her crew are the leaders.
The Wollmann’s finished 8th in the first race of the day and then recorded a win in race two before closing out the day with a 6th place finish for 15 points for the day.
The Wollmann’s lead the standing by two over USA’s Romaine Screve and his crew Ian Brill.
