Ayleal Dill, Seke Spence, Mazhi Simmons, and their Ilkeston Town’s teammates have gotten off to a perfect start in a new, specially-arranged competition.
With the Notts Senior League season having been curtailed, the league has put together a cup-like competition that features four groups of four teams, with sides playing each other twice.
The team placed top of their league after the six games will go into the semi-finals, with the winning sides going into the final played at Basford United FC.
Playing at the Hucknall Town Ground against Attenborough FC, Ilkeston came away with a 3 – 2 win.
Spence scored with a header, Mitchell Tait also found the back of the net, and Brontae Wint’s 20-yard curler sealed a win in the group stage opener.
JONTE SMITH
Jonte Smith started but he and his Woking teammates fell 2 – 0 to Torquay United in their Vanarama National League match at home.
Torquay scored two goals in two minutes that set Woking back, Scott Boden scored in the 14th minute, a long ball forward causes confusion at the back which allowed Boden to lob into an empty net.
In the 15th minute, Connor Lemonheigh-Evans doubled the lead, another long ball forward from was intercepted by the Woking defense, but a back-pass only found Lemonheigh-Evans who went round the keeper and slotted the ball in the back of the net.
