Smith & Lewes Fall to Faversham Town
A disappointing performance saw Jonte Smith and his Lewes teammates suffer a 2-0 defeat at Faversham Town on a sweltering day in Kent, a result which means they will have to better Carshalton Athletic’s result on the final day of the season to win the Bostik South title.

Lewes got off to a poor start by falling behind after just nine minutes, as a low cross from the right was converted from close range by Mobolaji Dawodu after some hesitant defending.

Despite being safe in lower mid-table, the hosts were comfortably the better side during the opening stages, with Chris Winterton forced into a smart save to keep out a powerful Benjamin Chapman effort prevent them doubling their lead.

Faversham Town goalkeeper Simon Overland was called into action, parrying a powerful Gus Sow strike from the edge of the area before keeping out Smith’s effort on the rebound with the help of a covering defender.
