The Somerset Trojans put survival in the Premier Division on the line for the Flanagan’s Onions after they defeated the Devonshire Cougars 6 – 3 at the Devonshire Rec.
This game had a bit of everything, the Somerset Trojans scored twice in the first half and conceded a goal just before the break, the Devonshire Cougars would have a penalty kick crash against the crossbar, before they would get a equalizer through a mistake from the Somerset Trojans goalkeeper, the Devonshire Cougars would then go ahead, but the Somerset Trojans would score four unanswered goals, with the win the Somerset Trojans opened up a nine point lead on the Flanagan’s Onions, anything short of three points tomorrow for the Onions would see them officially relegated.
Jaden Ratteray Smith would give the Somerset Trojans the lead in the 21st minute when he scored from close range, he would double the lead when he lobbed the ball over goalkeeper from some 30 yards out. Moses Steede would pull the Devonshire Cougars within one when he scored from a 20 yard free kick in the 40th minute.
The second half saw the Devonshire Cougars win a penalty in the 50th minute but Steede’s spot kick crashed against the crossbar before being cleared, but two minutes later the game was leveled a cross from Lovintz Tota was mishandled by Yizharyah Williams in goal for the Somerset Trojans and found the back of the net.
Four minutes later the Devonshire Cougars went in front when Allan Douglas scored, but Rattery-Smith would compete his hat-trick with another goal from close range to draw the teams level in the 75th minute.
With several stoppages the referee added on 10 minutes injury time and during that period the Somerset Trojans would score three times, Justin Corday would score in the first minute of stoppage time, substitute Zarion Darrell scored with 8 minutes gone and Evan Heyliger would score one minute later, he was only on the field for five minutes setting up Darrell’s and scoring himself.
