Bermuda English Footballers Round Up

RAI SIMONS

Rai Simons was an unused substitute as his Chesterfield Town teammates took the lead and had the chances to win but somehow fell to defeat as a late Dom Poleon goal saw them go down 2-1 to Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow.

A Darius Charles own goal gave Chesterfield a half time lead, though they were pegged-back by Paul Robinson's header before the hour mark.

Chesterfield hit the post, created numerous openings, but Poleon's late strike decided the contest and sent Chesterfield home pointless.

REGGIE LAMBE

Reggie Lambe and his Carlisle United teammates kept their unbeaten start to the season going but they were made to work hard having missed a host of chances which would have made it a much more comfortable afternoon, had they been put away.

After missing a host of chances Carlisle were made to pay on 58 minutes when Accrington Stanley’s Billy Kee was left alone as a cross from the right caught the defense napping, Carlisle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie had no chance with a bullet header from close range.

United were rocked but an individual moment of brilliance from Nicky Adams levelled the scores when he sprinted in from the left wing. The central defenders backed off and Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Aaron Chapman could only flap at thin air as a curler bent into the back of the net.

It became a battle for superiority in the middle third of the pitch but Chapman earned his spurs late in the day when a low cross was touched to Lambe by Shaun Miller and the Stanley keeper went low to make his first save with one hand as shot came through legs, the alert Lambe pounced again but the stopper had recovered quickly to set himself and make another point blank save which earned his side the share of the spoils.
