Several Bermuda players and their Ilkeston FC teammates will belatedly get their 2016/17 campaign underway tomorrow, with a home game against Ashton United.
After missing the first four games due to a league suspension everyone at Ilkeston FC is excited to finally have football back at the New Manor Ground.
Tomorrow’s visitors have got off to a good start in this campaign with two victories and two draws and now sit in second place in the league on eight points.
Ashton have found the back of the net nine times in their four games, with Lee Gaskill the top scorer having scored three of the nine.
Ashton started with a 3-1 away victory against Frickley Athletic, they followed this up with a home draw against Nantwich Town, a 2-0 home win against Hednesford Town and the a 3-3 draw at Blyth Spartans.
When the two sides met at the NMG last season, it ended in a 1-1 draw, Ilkeston’s goal came after just 55 seconds when Charlie Coulson’s effort cannoned off Jay Gorton and looped over Paul Phillips.
Ashton equalized in controversial fashion on the stroke of half time, when Joe Doyle was judged to have pulled down Adam Morning in the penalty area. Doyle would also see a red card for the challenge.
