Bermuda Players Wait on Ilkeston News

IslandStats.com
Bermuda players like their teammates are in the world of unknown as news breaks that Ilkeston FC will be reinstated to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League if they can settle their debts with football creditors.

The club was suspended by league chiefs just days before their season was due to begin for what they claim was a breach of rules.

A statement released by the club today reads:

Since Ilkeston FC’s suspension from the Evo-Stik NPL last week, work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure that the matter is rectified as soon as possible.

The position that Ilkeston FC now finds its self in is a very frustrating one, firstly for the club, because the problem is not of our making and secondly for our fans, as they see a lack of information coming from inside the New Manor Ground as leading to bigger problems, which is certainly not the case.

The situation is a very tricky one for IFC, and the club and its officials are bound by legal issues from going into any detail on the current situation.

C.E.O. Nigel Harrop said: “I understand the fans frustrations on the lack of any clear information from Ilkeston FC on the matter. Our lawyers have made it clear to me that if I were to give the details of the unfortunate situation that we find ourselves in, I could be the subject of legal proceedings. On this advice, I feel that for now, it is best left to the lawyers to deal with the situation and hope that this can be sorted out to everyone’s satisfaction as soon as possible, so we can get back to playing football, which is what the club and fans want more than anything.”

“Officials of the Evo-Stik NPL informed us this morning that this Saturday’s game has been called off, it’s disappointing that this decision has been taken so early, as there are still two full days of trading between now and Saturday and our legal team are working as hard as they can to bring this to an end.”
