Wells Scores in Pre-Season Friendly
New signings Elias Kachunga and Jack Payne scored as Nahki Wells and his Huddersfield Town teammates defeeated Accrington Stanley 4-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Wells and Rajiv van La Parra got the other goals against the League II team at PPG Canalside on Sunday afternoon.

Just as in last Wednesday’s 1-0 win at Guiseley, head coach David Wagner fielded different sides in the first and second half.

There was an outing for Aaron Mooy, the Australian international midfielder signed on a season-long loan from Manchester City, after the break.

Centre-back Jon Gorenc Stankovic, Town’s latest recruit in a £600,000 deal with Borussia Dortmund, didn’t play.

The 20-year-old Slovenian is still getting up to speed after his move from Germany.

Kachunga, signed on a season-loan loan from FC Ingolstadt, notched early on from Sean Scannell’s pass as Town led 1-0 at the break.

Former Southend United man Payne hit a post before Wells took advantage of a Harry Bunn tee-up to double the home lead.

Mooy and Wells combined to set up Payne to shoot home after 70 minutes.

Then Bunn crossed for Van La Parra to sweep the ball home.

Accrington,  who reached last season’s League II play-offs, pulled one back with 10 minutes remaining.

First-half team: Coddington, Cranie, Hudson, Whitehead, Lowe, Paurevic, Billing, Scannell, Dempsey, Lolley, Kachunga.

Second-half team: Coleman, Smith, Hefele, Schindler, Davidson, Mooy, Hogg, Van La Parra, Payne, Bunn, Wells.
