Dominican Republic has defeated French Guiana 2 – 1 in their CFU Caribbean Cup 2nd Round Qualifying match in the Dominican Republic.
Dominican Republic go through as the winners of Group 4, leaving Bermuda’s rearranged match with French Guiana to decide second place.
www.islandstats.com has learned that the CFU Executive Committee has made the following decision regarding the French Guiana – Bermuda match.
1. The game shall be replayed in its entirety for 90 minutes. 2. The game shall be played on June 19th, 2016, in French Guiana commencing at 4:00pm.
It has been reported on the Caribbean Football Twitter page that the Bermuda Football Association has requested $60,000.00 from the Caribbean Football Union to play the match against French Guiana.
You would remember back on June 1st in French Guiana, Bermuda were leading 1 – 0 over the host when match commissioner Maurice Victoire deemed the pitch unplayable with 35 minutes gone off the clock.
Bermuda Football Association President Larry Mussenden said, “CFU will provide financial assistance to Bermuda for airfare and overnight accommodations en route.
CFU will provide French Guiana with financial assistance to host and accommodate the Bermuda team and match officials.
The BFA welcomes the news of the financial assistance and our planning starts immediately to ensure success in French Guiana.”
