Wells' is on Premiership Club Southampton's Radar

Nahki Wells is slowly becoming the player Huddersfield Town believed he would be when he signed for the club in 2014.

The striker has scored 13 goals in 28 league appearances under David Wagner, compared to the 14 in his previous 46 before the German’s arrival.

Naturally, his upturn in form has seen his name linked with a host of other clubs. The latest of which is Southampton, who according to Clubcall, are said to be willing to give Wells the Premier League stage that so many think he deserves.

The Bermuda international has now notched 17 Championship goals this season, and despite his reputation of being somewhat wasteful in front of goal, his 57% accuracy from 126 shots can only be bettered by Fulham’s Ross McCormack in the division.

Town boss Wagner, who worked alongside Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, has introduced a fierce, high-pressing style of football to the club and has highlighted Wells’ importance to the success of this.

“Nahki helps the team massively with his work in the defence and the team try to help Nahki get chances and score. He did well today but not only because of his goal, but because of his defence performance.”

There is a sense that Wagner is building something special at the John Smith’s Stadium and talisman Wells will be heavily involved in his plans.

The former Bradford City man has netted 34 goals in his 100 Championship appearances for the Terriers and has only finished on the losing side twice this season after finding the net
