NAHKI WELLS – HUDDERSFIELD

Nahki Wells' goal crossed the Is and dotted the Ts on Huddersfield's Sky Bet Championship place for next season, though Rotherham are forced to wait after a 1-1 draw at New York Stadium.

Relegation was never on the cards but Wells cancelled out Greg Halford's early strike for the Millers to ensure their will be no unexpected late-season problems for Huddersfield as they moved 11 points clear of the bottom three with three games to go.

Wells was slipped in, his shot from 16 yards was too hot for Lee Camp to handle, though the Rotherham goalkeeper would have been disappointed to see the ball squirm underneath him.

Wells whistled a low drive from 20 yards just wide, the former Bradford striker then forced Camp into another save and Joel Lynch sent an effort from 35 yards wide.

The livewire Wells then had a goal disallowed as Huddersfield were unable to find that elusive breakthrough, but they will definitely be playing in the second tier next season.

RAI SIMONS – CHESTERFIELD

Doncaster's slim hopes of staying in Sky Bet League One suffered another blow when Rai Simons’ Chesterfield hit back to earn a point in a 1-1 draw at the Proact Stadium.

Simons was an unused substitute for Chesterfield.

It looked good for Rovers when Tommy Rowe fired them into an early lead but Gboly Ariyibi quickly replied for Chesterfield, who moved closer to safety.

REGGIE LAMBE – MANSFIELD

Exeter's play-off hopes were dealt a huge blow as they went down 3-2 at home to Reggie Lambe and his Mansfield Town teammates.

Mansfield went in front after 11 minutes. Ryan Tafazolli fired in a shot from the edge of the penalty area and his effort caught out home goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik, who was late going down and saw the ball squirm through his fingers and into the net.

Exeter failed to register a shot on target in the first half, but Jake Taylor had a great opportunity to equalize early in the second only to drag his shot wide from 10 yards.

Lambe dragged a shot wide for Mansfield when Craig Woodman's horrendous backpass gave him a clear sight at goal, but seconds later Malvind Benning made it 2-0 with a brilliant strike into the top corner from 25 yards.

Ollie Watkins reduced the arrears for Exeter with a brilliant individual goal after 64 minutes, firing in from 20 yards, and substitute Christian Ribeiro levelled it up with a stunning 25-yard strike that flew past Scott Shearer.

However, Mansfield went back in front and won the game when Tafazolli rifled in another great long-range shot with eight minutes remaining.
