NAHKI WELLS

Nahki Wells scored his first goal for two months as Huddersfield Town claimed a hard-fought 2-0 home victory over MK Dons.

Dons centre-back Kyle McFadzean blundered badly to gift the Bermudian striker Town's crucial goal.

With the game deadlocked, McFadzean inexplicably attempted to roll the ball back but only succeeded in giving it to Wells who drew keeper David Martin to fire home in the 58th minute, while Jamie Paterson doubled their score at the death.

It was only Huddersfield's second goal in four matches and the Town fans, starved of goal chances, booed the decision of boss Chris Powell to substitute Wells with 13 minutes still remaining.

RAI SIMONS

Rai Simons came off the bench in the 75th minute helping the venomous Chesterfield attacking display which was too much for visiting Southend United as Chesterfield they secured a brilliant 3-0 midweek victory at the Proact.

Lee Novak got Chesterfield off to the perfect start as within eight minutes he ran onto Dan Gardner's slide-rule ball, rounded the 'keeper and got just enough on his finish to beat Dan Bentley's despairing dive.

One became two eight minutes before the half time break when a delicious Chesterfield move saw Gardner shoot, Bentley save but Sylvan Ebanks-Blake pick up the pieces to double the home lead.

Ebanks-Blake netted his second and Chesterfield's third on 62 minutes as he was there sniffing as Ian Evatt headed downwards from a corner and the striker snaffled up the chance, the Spireites earning a wonderful victory over an in-form Shrimpers side.

Substitute Simons did his best to stop any late Southend consolation by running the ball into the corner as the referee blew for full time, sealing a second win in four days for Chesterfield.

REGGIE LAMBE

Reggie Lambe won all three points for Mansfield late into injury time at Huish Park with a tremendous header as the game was heading for a stalemate.

With chances few and far between, Mansfield appeared to be out of luck after seeing a number of chances cleared by the Yeovil defense, but Lambe popped up right at the death to take all three points home.

The fourth official indicated there would be a minimum of nine minutes time added on at the end of the game, as Mansfield searched for a late winner.

As the game entered the 98th minute and everyone inside Huish Park was awaiting the referee's final whistle, Lambe, who was Mansfield’s most dangerous player on the night, leapt highest to head home the winner.

Mitch Rose out-muscled Nathan Smith down the right-hand side and whipped a ball towards the penalty spot, where the waiting Lambe powered a header into the corner of the Yeovil goal to send the travelling Mansfield supporters into raptures.
