Bermuda National Team Settle in Guatemala

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Men’s National Team arrived safely in Guatemala ahead of the First Leg 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia CONCACAF Second Round Qualifying match.

Mark Wade the Bermuda Football Association 1st Vice President, who is also the Head of Delegation said the team has settled in well, “The hotel and Guatemala FA representatives have been very accommodating. They have worked to ensure our stay so far has been excellent.”

All the players arrived together with Dante Leverock and Jonte Smith meeting the team in Miami.

The Bermuda team can expect several challenges on Friday Night with Wade saying, “The weather forecast calls for rain and thunderstorms. We trained in light drizzle last night. Temperatures have been in the high sixties, good football weather.”

Wade went on to say, “We have had no challenges with meals or transportation. All arrangements have been great. We will have to contend with traffic on match day. The 10 minute drive to the stadium is likely to take 20-25 minutes based on our experience with the traffic going to yesterdays practice.”

Wade concluded, “The team is in good spirits. They have gone about the match preparation professionally.”

Meanwhile Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Marco Pappa has been called into the Guatemalan National Team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Bermuda.

Pappa, 27, has 37 caps and 10 goals all-time for Guatemala. At the 2014 Copa Centroamericana, he guided them to a runner-up finish, qualifying for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, scoring four goals en route to winning the tournament’s Golden Boot and Golden Ball.

Should Bermuda advance, the Third Round takes place between August 31st – September 8th.
