The third Annual Bascome/Lowe Charity Football Classic took place at the Bernard Park, where the Men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity incorporated remained undefeated in four years as they defeated the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated 2 – 1.
The Classic is named in honor of two powerful Community Servants who dedicated their entire lives to service - (Kappa) Minister Nelson Bascome (deceased) and (Alpha) Rev. Doctor Wilbur Lowe (deceased).
The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity took the lead in the first half when PHC Zebras Club President Jonathan Ball found the back of the net in the first half.
The Men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity managed to get back into the game when a Zane Stowe 30 yard Free Kick took a deflection and gave the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity goalkeeper no chance locking the score at 1 – 1.
Five minutes late the winner would come from none other than Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity player and Devonshire Colts President Ray Jones who beat his marker and calmly stroked the ball home leaving the goalkeeper stranded.
