Adam Hall and his Delmarva Shorebird teammates continued to mystify the Greenville Drive from the pitcher's mound, notching their 16th team shutout of the season with a 5-0 win on Wednesday night at Fluor Field at the West End.
All of Delmarva's scoring on the night came in a big third inning. Zach Watson led off with a double, then after a groundout Johnny Rizer singled to right, putting men on the corners. Jaylen Ferguson came up next and slammed a triple off the wall in dead center, scoring Watson and Rizer to put the Shorebirds up 2-0. Ryne Ogren got hit by a pitch to follow, and Jean Carlos Encarnacion slashed a double down the left field line, scoring Ferguson and moving Ogren to third. Seamus Curran then rolled a grounder up the middle that deflected off the second base bag and into center for a two-run single, making it a five-spot and a 5-0 Shorebird lead.
Hall went 2 for 5 on the night.
