The White Sox defeated Adam Hall and his Yankees teammates 8-3 to open the 2016 Area Code Games.
Oklahoma commit Kaden Polcovich doubled home the first run in the first inning for the White Sox, who are representing the Midwest region. Deer Creek teammate Mitchell Stone, a 6-foot-10 lefthander, started the game and gave up one run in three innings.
Jordon Adell broke open the game for the White Sox with a two-run double in the third inning, and on the mound he was impressive as well, striking out five in two innings.
“My goal was to let it flow,” Adell said.
Other White Sox standouts included righthander Sam Carlson, who struck out two batters in two innings and Calvin Greenfield, who went 3-for-3.
Vanderbilt commit Cooper Davis stole home in the bottom of the third to get the Yankees on the scoreboard. Hall led the Yankees with two RBI’s.
