Freshman Tyler Zhang won the clinching match, 6-2, 6-4 at fifth singles to lead the Babson College Beavers to a 5-4 victory over Dylan Powell, Courtland Boyle and their visiting Trinity College teammates in Men's Tennis action this afternoon at Boston Sports Club.

Trinity rookie Ross DeRose won in singles and doubles and pull Trinity to within a point at 4-3 in their 2018-19 dual-match opener.

Trailing, 1-0, after the first completed doubles match, the Trinity took the next two doubles points. Trinity senior co-captain Chris Caskin and first-year Powell won, 8-5, at the Second Doubles spot, followed by a hard-fought, 8-6 win by DeRose and junior Boyle at the top of the Doubles ladder 8-6.

Babson responded with three wins in a row to Open Singles play, and took a 4-2 lead in the match, before DeRose defeated Babson sophomore Andre Libnic in an incredibly close contest, 7-6 (7-2), 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), at second singles.

Zhang collected the clinching point of the match with his straight-sets victory over Caskin at fifth singles, while Babson rookie Charles Kilborn rallied back from a 6-0 setback in the first set to win, 6-4, in the second and, 6-2, in the third and earn the win at sixth singles in first collegiate dual match.

Powell would fall in his Singles match in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to Ron Brody.
