The Directors of the West Indies Cricket Board held a meeting recently and a decision was made that will more than likely affect some young Bermuda player who has aspirations of playing in the 2015 Annual Cup Match Classic.
This year’s West Indies Regional Under-19 Tournament will be played in Jamaica between July 20th and August 3rd, and will be contested under a 50 overs-a-side format. The six regional teams – Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad & Tobago and Windward Islands – along with a side from ICC Americas will play the other once in a round-robin competition with the top two teams contesting the Final to determine the winner.
Bermuda players will help to make up the ICC Americas team and with the Cup Match Classic scheduled for July 30th and 31st would rule anyone selected for the team to take part in Jamaica out of the Classic.
Last year Bermuda had four players selected for the ICC Americas Team Onias Bascome, Delray Rawlins, Micah Simons and Tre Manders, with three of them taking part in the Classic. Manders, later withdrew from the ICC Americas team and was replaced by Alex Dore.
Details about the fixtures will be released at a later date.
