Delray Rawlins’ teammate Tom Alsop’s form with the bat continued into the 50-over format as he top scored for Sussex with 75 runs from 70 balls, but Sussex was unable to take victory at Trent Bridge, as Notts picked up a 65-run victory in the first of their Royal London Cup games.
Despite a sticky start, Notts posted 290/7 from their 50 overs after left-arm spinner Patterson-White had hit three sixes in his 46-ball knock, which comfortably beat his highest score of 27 in his debut season in 2021.
Rawlins finished with figures of 7-0-40-0, but he did hold onto a catch.
Patterson-White then combined with bowler Dane Paterson to dismiss Sussex’s most dangerous weapon, taking a stunning catch at square leg to remove Indian batting star Cheteshwar Pujara for just nine as Sussex were bowled out for 225 in 44 overs.
Rawlins scored four before being trapped LBW.
