Delray Rawlins’ teammate Will Beer hit an unbeaten 99 for the Sussex Second Eleven as they claimed victory in an exciting run chase against Glamorgan, in their 2nd XI Trophy match at The Blackstone Academy Ground, sponsored by Hurstpierpoint College.
With the visitors having won the toss and elected to bat, they made 298 for 7 from their 50 overs. Abi Sakande was the pick of the bowlers for Sussex, claiming figures of 3 for 43 from his ten overs whilst Ajmal Shazhad picked up 2 for 46. They was also a wicket apiece for George Garton and Beer.
Glamorgan skipper Neil Brand hit 102 and opener Jeremy Lawlor made 90 as they set Sussex a chase of almost six an over to win.
In response, Sussex made their target with three balls to spare thanks to Beer’s unbeaten 99, plus knocks from Liam Smith (65), Phil Salt (38) and Shahzad (29 not out), for the loss of six wickets.
