Kamau Leverock had a good weekend with the bat as he helped Newport record a big victory.
In their opening game of the weekend Leverock and his Newport 1st XI teammates took on Ammanford Cricket Club, Newport won the toss, and invited Ammanford to bat.
Ammanford scored 190/5 in their 50 overs, with Leverock returing figures of 10-0-39-0, in reply Newport scored 172/3 before rain halted play and the match was decided on the DLS Method with Newport recording a 71 run victory. Leverock was 68 not out off 45 ball batting in the number five spot, he hit 7 fours and 4 sixes.
Meanwhile Charles Trott made an excellent start to his English Cricket career when he helped Oxted and Limpsfield Cricket Club 3rd team reach a score of 161/9 in their allotted overs, however he could not prevent them from going down in a losing draw to Worcester Park Cricket Club. Trott scored 64 runs and took 2 wickets in his Surrey Championship Division 1 - 3rd XI debut.
