Saltus Grammar batted a sensational innings to win the Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Middle School Boys Super 8’s Cricket Final over the Whitney Institute at the National Sports Center.
Whitney batted first and punished the Saltus bowling to score 108 in their allotted seven overs. Kashe Hall led the charge with 28 runs, Najiyah Raynor added 16 runs leaving Saltus with a monumental task of scoring 109 to win. Saltus were up to the task and scored runs early with Jarryd Richardson and Isaiah Wales scoring at will. Wales was dismissed for 13 and Sage Carter came in to inflict the damage to the Whitney bowling scoring 30 runs and so being forced to retire. Saltus needed 2 runs in the last over to win and Richardson sealed it with a six off the first delivery of the over.
Whitney had defeated Sandys Secondary Middle School in a low scoring Semi-Final. Sandys batted first and scored 48 in their seven overs. Dominic Sabir scored 19 while Deniche Hill scored 13. The result was never in question as Whitney raced to the total with two overs to spare, with Raynor scoring 32 runs to lead Whitney.
Saltus defeated TN Tatem in the other Semi-Final. Tyriq Smith scored 13 in leading TN Tatem to 70 runs in seven overs. Richardson and Wales together reached the total for Saltus in five overs. Richardson scored 27 with Wales scoring 26.
