Southampton Rangers Forfeit Western County Cup Match
Southampton Rangers 0/0 Willow Cuts 0/0
The Western County Cup competition was thrown into the spotlight yet again for all the wrong reason.
Champions Southampton Rangers refused to take the field after they informed Western County Cup Association Officials that two guest players for Willow Cuts were not registered for the 2015 Competition.
Chris Douglas and George O’Brien were included in the Challengers line up, but Southampton Rangers officials stated that their names were not submitted at the meeting and they were never informed.
Islandstats.com asked the Western County Cup Association President Kim Jackson for a comment on the issue, “The Acting Officials of Western County Cup Association reviewed the events that led to the abandonment of the game today. They concluded that there was no reason for Southampton Rangers to refuse to play and therefore the cup was awarded to Willow Cuts. The next game will be between Willow Cuts and Somerset Bridge.”
