The players were selected by the Under 18 Management Team based on the positions required by the Ontario Cricket Academy and the player’s commitment, hard work and dedication in training.

The Canadian team will be led by Canadian National Under 17 captain, Abraash Khan who played in Bermuda in the ICC Under 17 Match Play Tournament last year. The team will be facing stiff competition in Sri Lanka playing against top college teams including St. Joseph’s and St. Peter’s, whilst in Colombo.

President of the BCB Lloyd Fray said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for four of our Under 18 players to get some competitive cricket practice in March, especially in the run up to the ICC U19 Americas Regional World Cup Qualifier expected to be held in July, 2015.

“Our Bermuda contingent will have an outstanding opportunity to interact with their peers from Canada cricket that has a diverse cultural backgrounds including India, Pakistan, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Fiji. They will also get to explore Sri Lanka including an orphanage and learn about its rich cultural heritage.”

Fray continued, “We are especially grateful to the Ontario Academy & Club for providing the opportunity for four of our Under 18 players to take part in this tour. In addition, we would like to thank National Academy coach, Sammy Robinson, for setting up this opportunity and to Team Manager, Russell Richardson, who will be the fifth member from Bermuda on the tour, he has played a huge role in organizing the Bermuda contingent.”

Fray concluded, “The four players are currently fundraising to help cover part of the cost of the tour and if you would like to support them on this endeavor please feel free to contact the BCB on 292-8958 or email info@cricket.bm or donations can be transferred directly to the Bermuda Cricket Board, HSBC 006 006 530 001, please reference Sri Lanka.”
