The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) and Chivas Regal, the leader in quality blended scotch, announced the winner of the weekly Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award (CCSA).
The winner of the award for Week 4 is Sinclair Gibbons of St. George’s Cricket Club.
Somerset Cricket Club bowler Jacobi Robinson injured himself during his first over while attempting to field a ball struck by Gibbons. After receiving treatment Robinson bowled another 4 overs before he was forced to retire from the field due to pain. Gibbons, as the batsman at the crease deputizing for the St. George’s Cricket Club Captain, allowed a substitute player to replace Robinson despite the fact that the Somerset team had not named any reserve players in their nominated team. With Robinson’s retirement, the Somerset Cricket Club would have been forced to continue the match with only 10 men. By allowing the substitute player to take o he field Gibbons exhibited a superior standard of Fair Play and showed the true Spirit pf Cricket.
