Bermudian pickleball players Ryan Hayward and Myra Virgil faced a challenging tournament at the Humana APP Fort Lauderdale Open, concluding their Mixed Doubles UTR-P 4.0: 40+ Division campaign without a victory.
The pair battled hard but ultimately fell short in all three of their matches, highlighting the competitive nature of the event.
Hayward and Virgil faced tough opposition throughout the tournament, starting with a 15-5 loss to Americans Rodger Thomas and Marilyn Perez. They then suffered another 15-5 defeat against Emily Taylor and Michael Hye, also from the United States. Their final match saw them fall 15-5 to American pair Shannon Downs and William Downs.
Despite the challenging results, Hayward and Virgil gained valuable experience competing against a high level of competition at the Humana APP Fort Lauderdale Open. This exposure to top-tier pickleball will undoubtedly help them develop their skills and strategies as they continue to compete in future tournaments.
While they may be disappointed with their win-loss record, Hayward and Virgil can take pride in representing Bermuda on the international pickleball stage. Their participation in this prestigious event showcases the growing popularity of the sport in Bermuda and their dedication to competing at a high level.
