The Oshawa Generals pulled off a stunning comeback, scoring five unanswered goals to defeat Blake Montgomery and the London Knights 5-3 at Canada Life Place.
The victory snapped London's incredible 19-game winning streak, the fifth-longest in Ontario Hockey League history.
Montgomery, fresh off being named the OHL Cogeco Player of the Week, continued his hot streak early in the game. He extended his point streak to 12 games with a beautiful goal in the first period, finishing off a slick two-on-one feed from Will Nicholl.
But the Generals refused to be intimidated. They weathered the early storm and slowly clawed their way back into the game. Oshawa's offense came alive in the second and third periods, finding cracks in the Knights' armor and capitalizing on their opportunities.
Despite the loss, Montgomery's performance was a bright spot for London. The Ottawa Senators prospect has been on fire lately, racking up four goals and four assists in his previous three games. His size, skill, and scoring touch have made him a key contributor to the Knights' success this season.
For the Knights, the loss stings, but their 19-game winning streak will be etched in the OHL record books. With Montgomery leading the charge, they remain a top contender for the championship. This setback might just be the fuel they need to ignite another impressive run.
