Youngsters lead the charge on the opening day of the Bermuda Fitted Dinghy Racing Season in the St. George’s Harbor, with the likes of Dimitri Stevens sailing Contest III out of the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, Lance Fraser sailing Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club's Elizabeth II, Owen Siese sailing Sandys Boat Club’s Challenger II and Mark Soares sailing St. George's Dinghy and Sports Club’s Victory IV.
Contest III with Stevens at the helm sailed to victory in the days three races taking home the Heritage Trophy, Anniversary Cup, and the Leon D. Fox Cup.
Challenger II finished second in the Heritage Trophy race, with Victory IV finishing 3rd and Elizabeth II encountered a problem with their rudder and had to withdraw. Challenger finished second in the Anniversary Cup with both Victory IV and Elizabeth II both sank.
Victory IV finished second in the Leon D. Fox Cup and Challenger II sank, Elizabeth II did not start the race.
