Moses Steede converted from the penalty spot in the 21st minute to give the Devonshire Cougars the lead, after the Somerset Trojans goalkeeper Shaquille Bean committed a foul in the box. The Somerset Trojans started the second half looking for the equalizer, Tyrell Burgess had a long range drive saved by the Devonshire Cougars goalkeeper Kioshi Trott, but it was the Devonshire Cougars who came close to doubling their lead as substitute Chea Brangman had a shot blocked off the line first by Bean, and then Domico Coddington followed up and his shot was blocked by a Somerset Trojans defender before being cleared.
As the Somerset Trojans went in search of the equalizer in the 60th minute the Devonshire Cougars went on a break with substitute Brangman running straight at goal, he slipped a pass to Drewonde Bascome who’s shot was deflected wide for a corner.
In the 77th minute the Somerset Trojans had a life line back into the game when a handball inside the box was called a penalty. Former Devonshire Cougars player Mallory stepped up to take the spot kick, but Trott dove to his right and denied the equalizer. Minutes later the Devonshire Cougars doubled their lead, a ball forward saw Brangman cross for Coddington to head pass a stranded Bean in the Somerset Trojans goals to make the score 2 – 0.
