Cup Match Rule Changes Announced

This year’s Annual Cup Match Classic has seen the clubs agree to some new rule change, starting with - subject to weather and light, in the event of play being suspended for any reason other than normal intervals occurs 1 hour + on the first (1st) day, play on the second (2nd) day the match start 1 hour early (if no result before).

The captain of the fielding side shall have the choice of taking a new ball at any time after 50 overs have been bowled with the previous ball. The umpires shall indicate to the batsman and the scorers whenever a new ball is taken into play.

Meanwhile on the issue of Abandonment: No decision is to be made without the consent of both Captains & Umpires. No game shall be called off in the last hour unless a minimum of 15 overs has been bowled or unless conditions deteriorate which may cause a danger to a player.

As we announced last week Friday, for the third year in a row Roger Dill and Richard Austin will stand in the middle, with Anthony Fubler the third umpire and Lester Harnett will be the Match Manager.
