Dennis Russell IslandStats.com The Island Soccer League’s (ISL) Union have released Dennis Russell, Union coach Jomar Wilkinson said, “We had to release Russell because he was bringing disharmony to the team, we had an issue with Russell during the first game when he refused to come off the field, we spoke to him about it and warned him that we can’t tolerate that kind of behaviour”.
“It is important that the team comes first and when Russell refused to come off the field during our second game we decided for the team’s sake we had to cut him”, continued Wilkinson. “I called him and we had a good conversation about the situation and I explained to him that we need to keep the team in control and allowing players to have their way would not be wise so the decision was made to release him”.
The Russell was the 2009 ISL Leading scorer and had scored 3 goals this season before being released, the Union will now rely heavily on the likes of Shaki Pearman, Shawn Brown and other to score goals and help them first make the play-off and hopefully defend their title.
