Q. When and where will the Bermuda Football Association's 2009/10 Awards be held?
A. The 10th Annual BFA Awards will be held at the Devonshire Recreation Club on May 14th, 2010 starting at 7pm.
Q. Over the year some in the media have stayed on the negative stories in Football, the positive overshadow the negative almost 10-1, can you highlight some of the positives that we saw over the Season?
A. There are several positives that can be highlighted, the successful Clyde Best Tournament, the establishment of the Bermuda Hogges in the PDL League, the renewed sponsorship of the BFA College Prep tour. Locally the domestic season went down to the final games in both men's divisions. Bermuda was represented in the CONCACAF Club Championship again after several years by the Devonshire Cougars. The National Academy is flourishing. The change in the Martonmere Cup produced exciting football at the under 23 level. The ladies game is developing well and some proposed changes will continue to show the BFA's commitment to developing the ladies game. Bermuda's Coaching Fraternity has moved in a positive direction with the BFA Coaching Certificate program. This year's Legends Scholarship Program has been well received. The Bermuda Football Association has worked diligently to improve all aspects of football not just the quality on the field.
Q. Usually the media pick the players for awards, however over the years it has been noted that because the media only cover certain games their view is not always the best, who will judged the winners this year?
A. This year's winners will be selected by club affiliates. These winners will "People's Choice" winners. We believe that this method will provide a better range of views. This year's MVP will be selected by the Coaches. Other winners will be selected by coaches, administrators, managers and media. The BFA is looking into the development of a fan based voting system that will give the football family the ability vote for their selections in the future.
Q. Over the years the Premier Division teams received money for their placement in the tables and the two teams coming up also received funding will this continue this year?
A. The BFA will maintain our commitment to excellence and will be providing the Clubs with "cash awards" for placements and promotion. For the BFA this is always a positive exciting time as this allows our clubs to continue to strive for high levels.
