Tamia Burgess from the Harrington Sound Primary and Destani Warner from West Pembroke were crowned the Under 9 Girls Dual Champions, Burgess won the Girls Long Jump, she finished third in the High Jump and then was fifth in the 100m, while Warner finished first in the 400m and 800m races. Mahlon Seon from the Somerset Primary won the Under 9 Boys Title after winning the 100m, 200m and Long Jump.
Francis Patton student Brijette Basden won the Under 10 Girls Title after she finished first in High Jump, 100m and 200m, while Sajan Harvey from the Warwick Academy after finishing first in the Under 10 Boy’s 200m, 400m and 800m was crowned Champion Boy.
Syriah Lottimore from Northlands Primary was crowned the Over 10 Girls Champion Girl after she finished first in the 200m, 100m and 400m, while Rahzir Jones from West Pembroke who won the Over 10 Boys 200m, 400m and finished third in 800m was crowned Champion Boy.
Lottimore was part of a winning relay and she broke a record, Lottimore broke a 19 year old 400m record with a time of 1:07.79. This helped her earn the Toby Colombe Award for the most outstanding Athlete. This award is in honor of The former MSA PE teacher who passed away in 2008.
T.N. Tatem captured its first Middle School Track and Field Championship today at the National Sports Centre.
T.N. Tatem finished the day with 511.75 points, their closest rival was Whitney Institute who finished a distant second with 418.25 points. Dellwood’s Faheemah Scraders had the performance of the day by shattering the 1500 meter run by over 19 seconds with a time of 5:02.71.
Scraders was crowned the Over 13 Girls Champion by winning the 1500m, 800m and the 400m. School mate Jeremiah Steede won the Over 13 Boys Division after winning the 800m, 1500m and the High Jump.
Clearwater’s Michaiah Robinson and Azaire Smith won the Under 13 Boys and Girls titles. Smith shared the honors with T.N. Tatem’s Jaymie Darrell.
T.N. Tatem’s Jahkera Tucker won the Under 12 Division winning the 100m, 200m and 400m. T.N. Tatem’s Elisah Darrell won the Boys Under 12 Division by winning the 800m, High Jump and Long Jump.
Two other records fell today. David Darrell from Warwick Academy broke the Under 13 Boys 400m record with a time of 58.31 and Keizhari Knight from Whitney jumped 1.60m to break the Over 13 Girls High Jump record.
The Bermuda School Sports Federation held the Middle School Track and Field Qualifiers at the National Sports Center.
During the day’s event the Under 13 Boys 400 Meter Dash record that was set by Ryan Furbert was broken. David Darrell from the Warwick Academy is now the record holder after he clocked a time of 58.31 beating the previous record of 59.20, Stanwon Swan from Whitney also surpassed the previous record time when he was clocked at 58.40, Michaiah Robinson from Clearwater has also reached the final with a time of 1:00.16.
Jaymie Darrell from TN Tatem won the Under 13 Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.50, Kasia-Li Matthew also from the TN Tatem was the second top qualifier for the finals when she clocked 13.70 and Jah-Bre Dillas-Bremar from Dellwood finished third in a time of 14.30.
The Bermuda School Sports Federation held the Senior School Track & Field Championships at the National Sports Center.
Gabriella Arnold won the Girls 3000 Meter Run Under 15 race running for Warwick Academy in a time of 15:39.60, Asha Jones from Berkeley Institute was second in 18:12.80 and Bria Harrison-Mendes also from Berkeley Institute was third in 18:16.50.
Meanwhile Durius Robinson won the Boys 3000 Meter Run Under 15 race clocking 10:41.00 running for Cedarbridge Academy, Warwick Academy’s Nico Barclay finished second with a time of 10:59.90 and Kyle Trott from Warwick Academy finished third in 11:26.10.
Heron Bay Primary School held their Sports Day on the School Field, with parents, family and friends there to cheer the youngster on they did not disappoint.
Although there were a few tears early in the day the youngsters displayed their sportsmanship by continuing to compete.
