Who recalls the Whitney Sevens Rugby tournament for all the island schools back in the 70’s and thru to the 90’s?
There is a revival of this entertaining rugby format at Somersfield Academy on December 9th 2010. The idea is the brain child of Garth Lorimer-Turner ably assisted by Patrick Topley and his Mariners colleagues and Dave Crofts. The expectation is that there will be participation from at least six schools.
There has been a keen interest from a number of other schools who require some assistance to ramp up their programs and the hope is that they will be ready for an end of season sevens tournament.
The tournament is at Somersfield starting at 4pm. It is the first steps in developing a school rugby program that we hope will uncover some new talent and contribute to the continued growth of the game of rugby in Bermuda.
