Saltus Grammar School closed out their Canadian tour on a winning note this morning with a 2 - 0 win over Ridley College.
The match was played on a beautiful pitch that was wider than Wellington Oval, it didn't take long for Saltus to get on the scoreboard with a well taken goal by Javon Swan in the 8th minute.
Swan intercepted an attempted throw clearance by the goal keeper some 30 yards out. He controlled the ball on his chest and unleashed a volley which sailed over the keepers head and into the roof of the net. Saltus mounted attack after attack and only poor finishing kept them from adding to the scoreline. The score at halftime remained 1 - 0.
The second half started as the first half finished with Saltus dominating play. However, in the 60th minute Dimitri Williams was called on to make two point blank saves to keep the opponents from tying up the score.
Saltus squandered numerous chances during the duration of the second half. On the stroke of full time Fabio Pacheco scored an insurance goal with a drive from 15 yards into the lower left corner. Soon after the final whistle sounded and the result secured a winning record of 3 wins and 2 loses for Saltus.
