Saltus Grammar School kicked off their Canada 2010 Football Tour with two victories.
The first match was played in fridget temperatures and a light drizzle against Holy Trinity Secondary School. The match was very physical in rather sloppy conditions. The two teams went in to the half level at 0 - 0. The deadlock was broken in the 75th minute when Fabio Pacheco found the back of the net with a low shot from 12 yards out. The goal was assisted by Tyler Nelmes who worked tirelessly up front as Saltus won 1 - 0.
The second match of the day was at Upper Canada College (UCC). UCC used their Junior Varsity squad in order to rest their Varsity team for a big match they have on Saturday. Saltus came away with a 4 - 1 victory in improved weather and field conditions.
The game was played on the main stadium field which was field turf, Saltus got goals from Daeshun Greene in the 7th minute, Pacheco in the 24th minute, Luigi Cacace in the 35th minute and Ian Simmons who closed out the scoring in the 48th minute. UCC pulled a goal back late in the match. Dimitri Williams made several good saves to keep the scoreline to a single tally for the opponents.
