Matthew Spring - BERMUDA TRACK & FIELD ASSOCIATION Spring is 16 years of age and attends Lighthouse Christian Academy. Spring has been involved in Track & Field since the age of eleven (11). He began his Track & Field experience as a member of the Bermuda Pacers Track Club. In January 2005, our recipient began training with the Bermuda Track & Field Association’s National Training Squad. At that time he was running 5:05:9 for the 1500 event and 2:14:9 for the 800 event. That same year, Spring qualified for his first Carifta Games. Spring was awarded $3,988.00 to attend the 2007 Boston High Performance Meet and the 2007 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a coach. Travis Trott - BERMUDA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION Trott is 15 years of age and attends Warwick Academy. Trott is described as a extremely talented and dedicated young athlete who love the sport of football. He currently is a member of the Bermuda Athletic Club Under 15 team. In 2004 he was a regular member of the Chesapeake Athletic Dragons from Maryland in the Super Y League. In 2005 he was selected as part of the West All Star Middle School Team. In 2006 he assisted his High School in reaching the BSSF High School Knockout Finals. Trott was awarded $2,904.00 so that he may attend the Connecticut Soccer Academy. Leonard Frederick Wade - BERMUDA LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION Wade 15 years of age and attends Saltus Grammar School. Over the past few years, Wade has developed into an outstanding junior tennis player. During the 2006 season he was the winner in the 14 & under Emerald Financial Junior Tournament, the Reef Junior Under 16 Champion, the Buckhorn Spring Junior Challenge Under 16 Champion and the Men’s Fairmont Southampton Grand Prix “B” & “C” Division Champion. Internationally he has represented Bermuda at the World Athlete Games in Rhode Island, and the Junior Davis Cup in Guatemala. Wade was awarded $4,220.00 to attend for two weeks at the ITA High Performance Tennis Academy, to purchase equipment and pay for his airfare to and from Florida. Stephanie Wilkinson - BERMUDA EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION Wilkinson is 16 years of age and attends Warwick Academy. Wilkinson is one of Bermuda’s most promising junior equestrians. In 2004, she won the Grantfield Epic Show Jumping Trophy for pony jumping. She also received the Bermuda Horse and Pony Association’s Rising Star Award. In 2006, while competing in Caribbean Equestrian Association and Trinidad Jumping Competition she was 2nd overall. That same year while competing in the Gran Copa International three day jumping competition in Puerto Rico, she was crowned champion in the 15-18 age category. Wilkinson was awarded $2,778.00 to attend either the Manchester Summer Festival or the Manchester Classic Horse Show in July 2007. Erica Woods - BERMUDA BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION Woods 15 years of age and attends Warwick Academy. She has played basketball since the age of ten (10). Her skills in basketball soon became very obvious. In 2002 alone, she received awards such as the best junior girl dribbler in the Freddie Evan Basketball Camp, leading goal scorer in the BSSF Middle School Girl League, the Bermuda College Summer Invitational Tournament and the Bermuda College Women’s League. In 2006 she not only retained her leading goal score & most steal awards, but he was also MVP for both the BSSF and BBA Basketball All-Star. Woods was awarded $3,154.00 to attend the IMG Junior Basketball Camp in July 2007.
